Sad news. I consider occasional mushroom trips an essential part of living, just like regular trips (traveling). They allow you to zoom out and evaluate your life from a completely different perspective. They’re fun, natural, and, from the many times I’ve done them, completely safe (especially compared to, say, alcohol). A city which allows them to be freely sold is a very cool city in my book. If they are banned in the Netherlands, I will have one less reason to visit, and the country will have one less reason to consider itself special, exceptional. And (I have to say it), the authorities will have a little more power and individual citizens will have a little less.
Let’s not forget that the demand will still be there, and without public, regulated supply, it will give the gangs and pushers one more controlled substance to add to their catalogs.
Like Jakob said, in a controlled setting with good company, one can have an amazing life changing experience using Psychedelics responsibly. Like Abortions, they aren’t for everyone, but as free thinking adults isn’t it our right to decide that for ourselves?
